How Epoxy Coating Works on Commercial Pipe Lining Projects

It’s not uncommon for advanced aging and failure to affect many commercial pipes. They are constantly subjected to extreme temperatures, wear and tear, chemical exposure, and more, so it’s no surprise they often need to be repaired or replaced. Epoxy coating is one of the most effective solutions for restoring and protecting commercial pipes.
Irontree Construction has over 40 years of experience in commercial plumbing and piping. Our ability to handle any size or complexity of a project makes us the trusted provider of trenchless pipe repair in Phoenix, AZ.
Pipe Lining
To perform CIPP pipe repair, our technicians prepare an epoxy resin-impregnated liner which will be inserted into the damaged pipe. Our calibration tube then inverts the liner, placing the resin coating against the pipe’s interior wall.
Curing the Liner
To complete CIPP pipe lining, we cure the resin with either steam, hot air, air pressure, or UV light. The fiberglass or felt liner and resin form a strong bond with the pipe, creating an impenetrable shield against moisture, leaks, corrosion, and abrasion.
Epoxy Coating
Also called brush coating or Picote brush cast coating, an application of epoxy resin onto a pipe safeguards it from wear, corrosion, and rust. It fills in gaps between CIPP liners, sealing any leaky areas. We apply the coating with small robotic equipment launched through an existing opening, eliminating the need to excavate or dig on your property. A smart mixer contains the resin components and mixes them at the right moment.
Curing Epoxy Resin
After we perform an inspection to verify the even distribution of the Picote epoxy, it’s time to cure it. The curing process involves waiting four hours between coats or applying heat between resin layers to shorten the curing time to less than two hours. We can apply one to several layers of resin for enhanced strength.
